Firenze was a centaur from the herd in the Forbidden Forest, one who rejected their traditional ideals early on in order to support the wizarding world as a whole. His respect for humans saw him exiled from his herd after joining staff at Hogwarts, but after joining the fight in the Second Wizarding War, his herd eventually saw reason and welcomed him back.

Physical Appearance
Firenze was a male centaur with the colourings of that of a palomino horse. He had silver-blonde hair, and his lower half was golden-brown in colour. His eyes were said to be the most vibrant of blues. Some students saw Firenze as being handsome. |
Magical Attributes
Magic: Divination |
From early on, Firenze was somewhat of an outsider in the eyes of his herd, as he lacked their traditional way of thinking. He openly aided the rescue of Harry Potter in 1992 during the investigation into mauled unicorns in the Forbidden Forest. By allowing Harry Potter to ride on his back, he received backlash from other members of the herd.
In 1996, Firenze gained an opportunity from Albus Dumbledore to teach Divination at the castle. Accepting this post caused him to be beaten and driven out by his herd. Had Hagrid not intervened, they may have killed Firenze all because he accepted work from a human.
Firenze shared the Divination classroom with Sybill Trelawney from the 1996–1997 school year, but due to conflicting opinions on Divination, they rarely got along. Despite this, he proved popular with the students, and even Ronald Weasley thought he was the better Professor. Firenze remained teaching through Severus Snape's time as Headmaster, and even fought alongside the other professors and students during the Battle of Hogwarts. During this battle, Firenze was badly wounded and likely had to sit out the remainder of the fight, but he was thankfully healed by Madam Pomfrey.
After the events of the battle, Firenze's herd accepted him back, no longer deeming his actions towards humans as disrespectful to their race. He returned to his herd but continued teaching at the school alongside Sybill Trelawney.
