History
Early Life

Albus was born to Percival and Kendra Dumbledore in late August, 1881. His father died in Azkaban when Dumbledore was a child. Sometime later, his mother and sister were killed accidentally. He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Gryffindor House.

Gellert Grindelwald

Gellert Grindelwald was one of the most powerful and dangerous Dark Wizards of all time. After his education, he formed a romantic relationship with Albus Dumbledore. He had a desire to find the Deathly Hallows and lead a Wizarding revolution. At the age of seventeen, their partnership ended during a three-way duel with Aberforth Dumbledore that resulted in the death of Ariana. Grindelwald left Britain and continued the revolution.

In 1945, Albus confronted and defeated him in a legendary duel. He was imprisoned in his own fortress and later was killed there by Lord Voldemort in 1998.

The Global Wizarding War

Still feeling guilty from the circumstances of Ariana's death, Albus sent Newt Scamander to Paris to rescue Credence Barebone. After Leta Lestrange died tragically in Paris, Albus became determined to contribute helpful advice to the resistance against Grindelwald.

After the war, and the end of the For the Greater Good revolution, Albus became famous for his defeat of Gellert Grindelwald, discovering the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and for his work on alchemy with Nicolas Flamel.

Meeting Tom Riddle (1938)

Albus Dumbledore was in charge of informing Muggleborn students about Hogwarts. One of the most significant students that he recruited, other than Harry Potter, was Tom Riddle himself. When they first met, Albus was immediately suspicious of the boy's instincts for cruelty and domination. He decided to keep a close eye on the boy throughout his studies at the school. Because of this, Riddle started to hate and fear him, making Albus the only one who could elicit such a reaction out of the Dark Lord.

First Wizarding War (1970-1981)

Through Albus Dumbledore, the resistance to the rise of Lord Voldemort was found. Albus formed and lead the Order of the Phoenix against Voldemort for eleven years in the First Wizarding War. The Order of the Phoenix was created to be a secret organization of witches and wizards that were willing to risk their lives to fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

Mentoring Harry Potter

Shortly before the deaths of James and Lily Potter, Albus discovered that James's Invisibility Cloak was one of the Deathly Hallows. He borrowed it from James while he and Lily were in hiding. Later, Severus Snape came to Albus, having told Lord Voldemort about the Prophecy he'd overheard. Albus agreed, letting Snape work as a double agent for the Order.

Albus arranged for James, Lily and Harry to hide in the safety of their house in Godric's Hollow, protected by a Fidelius Charm. But when Peter Pettigrew, their Secret-Keeper, betrayed them, Harry's parents were murdered by Lord Voldemort. However, Harry resisted the murder as the curse backfired, due to Lily's love for her son, and destroyed Voldemort's body. This provided Albus with the ownership of two of the Hallows.

Knowing that Lord Voldemort wasn't truly gone, Albus made sure that Harry would be safe with his family, the Dursleys. Throughout Harry's education at Hogwarts, he helped Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger during their first six years at Hogwarts. They eventually named "Dumbledore's Army" after him in an effort to continue the resistance against the Dark Lord.

The Second Wizarding War

When Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter declared that Lord Voldemort had returned, the Ministry of Magic initially denied it. Albus was removed from his positions as Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, and the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards as punishment for his refusal to stay in line with the Ministry.

By this time, Albus had already feared the connection between Lord Voldemort and Harry. He had Severus Snape teach Harry Occlumency, for fear that Voldemort could look into his mind through his connection to Harry. The Ministry started to interfere with Hogwarts and Dolores Umbridge was posted as the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor.

Hermione, Harry and Ron formed a group that met secretly in order to learn true Dark Arts defence, as Harry led and taught it. The organization was known as "Dumbledore's Army", in order to scare the Ministry. When this society was uncovered, Albus took the blame, saying it was named after him. When Fudge ordered his arrest, Albus said he wouldn't come quietly and overpowered his captors with a single spell and went underground to work for the Order full-time.

Throughout the 1996-1997 school year, Albus passed on information to Harry Potter that would help him destroy the Dark Lord. They had private lessons, where Harry learned about Voldemort's past, life, and Horcruxes.

Battle of the Astronomy Tower

As Harry and Albus flew on brooms up to the Astronomy Tower, Albus and an invisibility-cloaked Harry were confronted by Draco Malfoy. Before Harry could appear, Albus immobilized him with a silent Full Body-Bind Curse, making it so that he could only watch what was about to happen. Malfoy disarmed Albus of his wand, and admitted that he was behind the series of attacks against the Hogwarts students and that Lord Voldemort had ordered him to kill Albus. Albus offered Draco protection, and promised to hide him and his mother where the Dark Lord wouldn't find them. Draco couldn't kill the Headmaster though, even after many Death Eaters arrived and encouraged him to do so.

Snape, however, had been called by Professor Flitwick to help the Order of the Phoenix. Snape arrived at the Tower and after Albus pleaded with him, in a way that didn't expose Snape's true intentions, Snape killed Albus, blasting his body off the tower and falling to the ground below.

Albus Dumbledore's Funeral and Legacy

In early July, a funeral was held for Albus, attended by many Hogwarts students and staff, Ministry of Magic officials, centaurs, Order of the Phoenix members, Hogsmeade Residents (including his brother Aberforth), as well as many other witches and wizards.

In 1998, before the start of the Battle of Hogwarts, Lord Voldemort broke into Albus' grave and stole the Elder Wand in hopes of gaining its full power.

Harry Potter, walking into Voldemort's Camp to be killed, was able yet again to avoid the effects of Voldemort's Killing Curse. Harry entered a limbo state, where he spoke with Albus Dumbledore's spirit. Dumbledore explained to him everything he had not told him while he was alive: all about the Deathly Hallows, his friendship with Gellert Grindelwald, and many other things.

When Harry returned and was eventually able to kill Lord Voldemort, Albus Dumbledore's portrait remained at Hogwarts. When Harry and Ginny Potter eventually got married and had children, they named their second son Albus Severus Potter, after Dumbledore and Severus Snape.
