Overview
The Wand-Lighting Charm can be used to light the end of a wand, letting the caster see in the dark, as well as occasionally revealing magically hidden items. The counter-spell is the Wand-Extinguishing Charm, and is taught to First year students at Hogwarts School.
The spell was invented in 1772 by Levina Monkstanley, an employee in the Ministry of Magic, to find a quill that had fallen into a dusty corner. The spell has three additional versions: Lumos Solem, Lumos Duo, and Lumos Maxima.
