History
Early Life

Harry Potter was born on 31st July 1980, the only child of James and Lily Potter. His parents were involved with the Order of the Phoenix - an organisation founded during the First Wizarding War to combat Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. After Severus Snape reported the contents of a prophecy to the Dark Lord, which implied that either Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom would be the one to 'vanquish' him, the Potter family went into hiding, with their old school friend Peter Pettigrew named as Secret Keeper.

Pettigrew betrayed the Potters to Voldemort, and on 31st October 1980, he entered their home in Godric's Hollow and killed James and Lily. He attempted to kill Harry using the Killing Curse, but this rebounded. At the time, it was thought the Dark Lord had been defeated; he had actually lodged a portion of his soul in Harry, turning him into a living horcrux, and was still alive as a wraith thanks to his other horcruxes.

Harry was sent to live with his Muggle aunt, uncle, and cousin - his mum Lily's sister. They despised magic, and ensured Harry knew nothing about his family's history, what happened to his parents, or any inkling that he may be a wizard. Although strange things happened throughout his childhood, Harry was not aware he was a wizard until his 11th birthday when he was invited to attend Hogwarts.

Hogwarts Years

Harry met Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley on the train ride, and was sorted into Gryffindor after deliberating with the Sorting Hat; Harry met Draco Malfoy on the way to school, who was certain he would be a Slytherin, and Harry wanted to avoid him at all costs. Harry was close friends with Ron Weasley during his First Year, but didn't grow close to Hermione until the Halloween Feast, when they saved her from a mountain troll, and the Golden Trio was formed. Harry also became the youngest Seeker in a century after demonstrating his skill in flying class. The trio discovered that the Philosopher's Stone was hidden in the castle, and were able to circumvent the challenges protecting it, culminating in the Stone being protected from Voldemort.

In Harry's Second Year, the school was tormented by Slytherin's monster after the Chamber of Secrets was opened. At the time, it wasn't clear what was responsible, as students were being petrified indiscriminately. Harry was falsely accused of being the Heir of Slytherin and responsible for the petrifications after it was revealed he was a Parselmouth - a rare, hereditary skill linked to Salazar Slytherin. His best friend Hermione was petrified, and had a note on her that helped Harry and Ron discover it was a basilisk in the chamber. Harry discovered Ginny had been possessed by the Diary of Tom Riddle, otherwise known as Voldemort, which was a horcrux - unbeknownst to Harry. Harry successfully defeated the basilisk using the Sword of Gryffindor, and the diary was destroyed using basilisk venom.

In Third Year, Hermione and Ron fell out, and Harry was left in the middle trying to appease both of his friends. He also discovered that his godfather was Sirius Black, accused of murdering 12 Muggles and Peter Pettigrew after betraying the Potters to Voldemort. He escaped Azkaban in his animagus form and had been pursuing Ron's pet rat, Scabbers, who was actually Peter Pettigrew in disguise in his animagus form. Unfortunately, Pettigrew escaped before they could exonorate Sirius at the end of the school year, but using Hermione's Time-Turner, the trio were able to help him escape.

During Fourth Year, Harry attended the Quidditch World Cup as a guest of the Weasley family, but the event was attacked by Death Eaters who terrorised the event. At Hogwarts, Harry's name was entered into the Triwizard Tournament by Barty Crouch Jnr., who was posing as Alastor Moody. Harry had to survive the three tasks, and succeeded well in all of them; during the final task, he and Cedric Diggory, the other champion for Hogwarts, took the cup at the same time to claim a joint victory; the cup was a portkey to the Little Hangleton graveyard, where Cedric Diggory was killed and Harry was captured. His blood was unwillingly used in a sacrificial ritual to restore Voldemort to physical form. Harry escaped after his wand locked in Priori Incantatem with Voldemort's, and he returned with Cedric's body.

During the summer before Fifth Year, dementors plagued Harry's Muggle neighbourhood; Harry learnt the Patronus Charm in his Third Year, and used it to defend himself and his cousin; this brought him in front of the Wizengamot for using magic under the age of seventeen, but Dumbledore spoke in his defence. The Ministry continued to interfere, this time at Hogwarts, by placing Dolores Umbridge as Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. Umbridge - and the Daily Prophet - led a smear campaign to discredit Harry and Dumbledore, and disputed the return of Voldemort. Umbridge also refused to teach any spells to her classes, so Harry and his friends founded Dumbledore's Army to learn spells. This was discovered by Umbridge, who was now Headmistress and High Inquisitor, and believed she was being undermined. After their exams, Hermione fabricated a secret weapon in the forest to draw Umbridge out there, and Harry and his friends later flew with the others to the Ministry, as Voldemort lured Harry there with false visions of Sirius being in trouble to try and extract the full prophecy concerning him and Harry. The Battle of the Department of Mysteries followed, and Sirius was killed by his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange. Dumbledore and Voldemort duelled, witnessed by Ministry officials, who now had irrefutable proof of Voldemort's return.

In Sixth Year, Harry was allowed into Potions class as Professor Slughorn took over the subject and lowered the OWL grade requirement. Harry unexpectedly excelled in the subject using a heavily annotated copy of his potions textbook. Harry underwent private occlumency lessons with Snape to try to prevent Voldemort's visions from affecting him. He also went with Dumbledore to find another horcrux - Slytherin's Locket, which later proved to be a fake. By the end of the year, Draco had let Death Eaters into the school, Albus Dumbledore was murdered by Severus Snape, and Harry, Ron and Hermione fled the school.

After Harry turned 17 and reached the age of magical majority, the protections around 12 Privet Drive fell, and Harry had to be safely extracted. Harry and his friends were joined the Order of the Phoenix and took part in the Battle of the Seven Potters. Harry later received a Golden Snitch from Dumbledore’s will, which contained Marvolo Gaunt's Ring, another horcrux. After the Ministry fell, Hermione, Ron, and Harry fled and began hunting horcruxes. Harry used Polyjuice Potion to infiltrate the Ministry as Albert Runcorn and retrieve Slytherin’s locket from Umbridge, endured the trio’s growing tensions as the locket’s Dark magic influenced them, and continued on even after Ron left. Harry escaped Godric’s Hollow with Hermione after Nagini attacked him and Voldemort arrived, reunited with Ron so the locket could be destroyed, learned of the Deathly Hallows from Xenophilius Lovegood, was captured by Snatchers, and was interrogated at Malfoy Manor before Dobby helped them escape. Harry and Hermione then broke into Gringottswith Harry disguised under the invisibility cloak, to retrieve Hufflepuff’s Cup, and finally returned to Hogwarts with Hermione and Ron for the Battle of Hogwarts. There, Hermione and Ron destroyed Hufflepuff’s Cup with a basilisk fang, the trio found Ravenclaw’s Diadem in the Room of Requirement, and Crabbe’s Fiendfyre destroyed both the horcrux and himself.

During the Battle of Hogwarts, Voldemort called a ceasefire and said that no one else would die if Harry willingly turned himself over, which he did. Harry went alone to the Forbidden Forest, where Voldemort used the Killing Curse on him again. Harry ended up in limbo, because he was anchored to life by the ritual Voldemort used to return, so the Killing Curse destroyed the horcux instead. Harry returned to life, but feigned death. Narcissa Malfoy lied after Harry confirmed Draco was still alive, and said that Harry was dead. His body was brought back to the school and the remaining fighters were told to surrender, but the fighting restarted in earnest. Neville killed Nagini using the Sword of Gryffindor, and this meant Harry could finally kill Voldemort. Harry was the true master of the Elder Wand, which Voldemort was wielding, and it refused to kill its master, resulting in Voldemort's Killing Curse backfiring for a second and final time, as he had no horcruxes left, and Voldemort was finally gone.

After the War

After teh war, Harry married Ginny Weasley and had three children - James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. Harry joined the Department of Magical Law Enforcement as an Auror, and became Head of the Auror Office in 2007. Harry was involved in the Time-Turner plot concocted by Delphini, Voldemort's daughter, and accidentally involving Harry's son, Albus. Harry was also involved in the response to the Calamity.
