The Wiggentree was a species of magical rowan tree. Students at Hogwarts studied this tree in their Fourth year. Its bark was used to brew the Wiggenweld Potion, and wiggentrees are usually guarded by Bowtruckles, who will attack anyone who come too close. Wiggentrees could offer proteciton from Dark creatures to anyone touching the trunk, for as long as they kept contact with the tree.
