Yetis are magical creatures native to Tibet, sometimes called Bigfoot or the Abominable Snowman, particularly by Muggles; Yetis are one of the most sighted magical creatures in the world, and Tibet is purported to have a terrible record for the International Statute of Secrecy as a result. The International Confederation of Wizards have a permanent task force in the mountains to manage the situation.

Yetis are grey-skinned with long, white hair and can be up to 15 feet tall and are carniverous, attacking anything it came across. Their key weakness is fire, making them easy to counter with a Fire-Making Spell.

At some stage, a Yeti imported to be studied by Hogwarts students escaped, and spent years roaming the grounds near Hogwarts. In 1984, the Yeti was captured and returned to school grounds.
