The Zouwu, sometimes written down as ZouWu, was a creature native to China that looked like an elephant-sized cat, with an orange striped body, fangs, a mane, and a very long tail.

Zouwu are extremely fast and powerful and capable of Apparating in a way that bypasses Anti-Apparition wards. Despite being terrifying creatures to look at, they are generally gentle towards humans, per the Chinese mythology that surrounds them.

A Zouwu was captured and treated poorly in the Circus Arcanus. Newt Scamander lured it away and into his enchanted suitcase, where he treated its wounds and released its chains, building her a habitat within his suitcase.
