Overview
This potion is used to make the drinker drowsy, and causes a sleep that isn't plagued with nightmares - or dreams, for that matter. It has been used several times by students after traumatic events at the school, such as the murder of Rowan Khanna in 1990, and when Harry witnessed Voldemort's return in the Little Hangleton Graveyard in 1995.
It's possible that the amount consumed is proportional to the duration of sleep it induces.
