Although there's no way to artificially create love, Amortentia is the closest thing to it, and is the most powerful love potion in existence, causing the drinker to become obsessed with the person who gave it to them. Along with its mother-of-pearl sheen and spiral steam, the scent of this potion also depends on the person, with a different aroma for each individual based on the things that they're attracted to.

Amortentia is considered very dangerous for its powerful effect, and there is a fountain in the Love Room in the Department of Mysteries studied by Unspeakables.

Known scents include treacle tart, broomstick handles and flowers (Harry Potter), mooncalf dung and ginger newts (Barnaby Lee), and mown grass, parchment, and Ron's shampoo (Hermione Granger).
