Overview

The Summoning Charm is one of the oldest in history, featuring in both Miranda Goshawk's writing and Beedle the Bard's work. It is used to summon an object in the caster's line of sight, or to summon an object from further away by incanting "Accio" followed by the name of the item - for example, "Accio Quill!".

The spell has no range, but items further away required more intense concentration, and distractions would cause the spell to fail. The spell cannot be used on buildings or directly on living things, with the exception of Flobberworms. The Summoning Charm's opposite is the Banishing Charm.
