Hi there you beautiful wizards and witches!

This is the last of four Quidditch Interviews, where I got to ask Abigail Baines some lovely questions, and got some lovely answers for in return! Abigail is Gryffindor’s team captain, and while I got to her last, that doesn’t mean she’s the least (in the contrary!). So let’s all sit down and see what Abigail had to say!

Congratulations for winning the last game of the year! What does it feel like?

Great! But we enjoyed our last match against the Puffs greatly, even if we hadnt won ;)

Gryffindor and Hufflepuff were fighting for the third place, and it was a really tight race up to the game. How did you mentally prepare your team for this match?

Training, lots of it. We have all sorts of talks during those too, so we talked about many things from what we will do if we win or not and the likes. Ruby and me pepped them up by convicing them that we WILL win, which fired them up. The good mood on the field was another bonus.

For two of the three matches, you and the opposing team were tied up until it was up for the seeker to catch the snitch. Do you carefully choose who your seeker is? And what do you base your decision on?

Yes. I base my seeker on how fast and secure the person is with his/her answers and how comfortable the person is in that role, as it IS a lot of pressure. I had tried it and I never want to play that position again. It's simply too much pressure. Many apply for seeker but after actually trying it in training they take other positions. You really need nerves made out of steel for that.

Within a couple of weeks (months), a new Quidditch season will start. Do you think you will be looking for new recruits? And what do you look for in your team players?

Actually, yes I was planning on hosting a big recruitment with an article and everything in near future. Of course we also let people tryout during and between seasons if they owl me. The very first thing I look at: They are trying to do their best and have fun while doing it.

There is no need to push someone to come to trainings, that he/she doesnt want to do. Also I would really like them to get along with the team and our... 'specialness'.

I would like to thank all four team captains, Eviee Elexy, Jiya Sharma, Jada Nightflame, and Abigail Barnes for helping me out and answering these questions! Unfortunately, this season of quidditch is over (Congratulations to Ravenclaw, for winning the season again!), but there will be new teams, and matches next schoolyear! So what are you waiting for? Go and see if your house needs some lovely new players in their teams!

Magical blessings,

Lara Mountainheart and the SoMe Team
