Today's topic is the... Hodag!

What does the creature look like?

The Hodag is considered to resemble a frog. They are considered to have a frog-like head, which makes them look like the muggle creature. Besides this, they have glowing red eyes, and they are rather large creatures, considering that they were supposed to be the size of a large dog. They also had two large horns on their head.

What is its abilities?

Despite what some might believe, the Hodag actually do have interesting abilities. Firstly, the horns of the Hodag has magical abilities. They could most likely be used in potions, but besides that they could be turned into powder. This powder could apparently make a person immune to alcohol, meaning that they would not get drunk. This isn't the only ability they had - the powder of their horns could also give the ability that you would not need to sleep for seven days and seven nights.

Where does it usually live?

It is actually a creature that does not live in many places. It is usually found in North America, and is especially found in Wisconsin. Here, it usually lives on muggle farms.

How well would it be to hold as a pet?

I think it depends on what exactly you are looking for in a pet. If you live out on the country, then I definitely think that the Hodag could be a great pet to hold. It would be great to chase other creatures away, but it also have some great abilities you could make use of. It would probably not hold well if you live in the middle of a city or in an apartment, due to its size and its strange look. This creature also eats mooncalves, and that can be hard to get if you might not know many magizoologists or places to actually get these animals. Therefore, I could imagine they would be rather hard to hold as pets - but, if you find them worth it and makes sure to have more than plenty of what they require, then I am sure they would be the perfect pet for you!
