Classy Adventures

Potions

Another edition, another class! What'll it be this time? Anyway, I'm back and don't forget to keep reading!

And for a little review, I am Ilan Kim bringing you another edition of Classy Adventures! If you haven't already guessed due to the title, this blog is about... the different classes taught at the castle! There will be information on these classes, some cool aesthetics, and even a little section where you get to help fill in the blanks! Anyway, let's look into our class for today which is... Potions!

─── ✧ 。.・───

What was Potions like many years ago? Was it completely the same? Did people invent new potions as time went on? How did all that work? Well, well, you've come to the right place!

Potions was considered a core class at this school many years ago. Just as they do now, students learned the art of potion brewing, using magical ingredients. The students started out with simple and easier recipes but as the years went on, the recipes became more precise and complicated.

Potions class is almost a science of ingredients mixing and could be sort of compared to muggle chemistry. I also like to think it's similar to cooking. But overall, students learned how to create brews and solutions with magical effects. It has been taught by many professors some of which include Severus Snape, Horace Slughorn, Bartholomew, and is currently now taught by Theodore Bennett. So, shall we see what Professor Bennett says about the class today?

"Potions is a core subject here at Hogwarts, and one which I would encourage you all to attend. You never know when you're going to need to brew a potion, so having the skills to hand is a must. Throughout the seven year course, you'll spend a lot of time learning the basics, including getting to know your ingredients! It's vital to know and understand them just as much as it is to know the recipie. And following the recipe to the dot is important; potions is all about being precise, and reading the intructions a few times before you do them. You'll also learn about poisons and antidotes which is always beneficial and handy to know about. By the time you get to your final year, you should have the skills behind you to brew the polyjuice potion or even amortentia. That is of course assuming you paid attention to the first six years and studied hard! Only the very best will make it to the end!" - Theodore Bennett

What you should take away from this? It's a super fun, useful, and interesting class! So make sure to take a trip to the Potions classroom with Professor Bennett!

Ah, now, shall we enjoy some wonderful aesthetics?

Every new edition, there's going to be a little... adventure! This will consist of a character (note: these characters are NPCs and do not actually exist on site) having an adventure at the featured class of the week! But I'm going to need your help! How? It's up to you to fill in the blanks. Have you ever heard of mad libs? Well, that's what we're going to be doing. Each week, there will be adjectives, nouns, all those fun stuff for you to fill out in the comments and one person's suggestions will go into the next week's adventure!

And thank you so much to everyone who filled out the mad lib last week! And this week, thank you Amelia Williams for filling it out and congratulations on being featured. Ready for the adventure?

A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Charles let out a hungry sigh, pouring over the cauldron before him. Had he added the right amount of whole wheat flour? Had he burned in the cold direction? “I swear…” the boy murmured. The concoction before him was slowly turning to a deep chartreuse color but Charles was certainly that wasn’t right. Frantically, he scanned the The World Book Encyclopedia, looking for a clue. But… nothing. He kept stirring, hoping something would change and then… ding dong! Charles didn’t have time to think much before the cauldron and its contents exploded into the air.

What an interesting experience it seems like Ryder has had... an adventure, one might call it! Sounds interesting, right?

Would you like a chance to have what you would put in the blanks featured? Well, well, next week's adventure is a surprise but whatever you might comment could definitely change the story a little! So make sure to fill this out in the comments!
  • adjective
  • instrument
  • adverb
  • verb
  • adverb
  • part of the body
I cannot wait to see what next week's adventure turns out to be and what it's like but I guess we'll have to find out! Don't forget to fill out the blanks in the comments- OH and did I mention that everyone who fills in the blanks gets a prize? So go go!

Well, well, I hope you've had a wonderful time reading this blog- I've had a great time writing it! Make sure to stay tuned for the next post and next adventure in two weeks!

Thank you for reading and make sure to go do your Potions homework!
