Meet the Staff
Hythlos Honeywood
Hello everyone! Welcome to Meet the Staff! In this weekly blog series, I'll be interviewing our amazing members of staff here at WoP EU, giving you the chance to get to know them all a little better. Without our hard-working staff team, we wouldn't have any lessons, articles, plots, competitions, books, clubs or rules to keep our site running. There's some incredible human beings behind the screens here, so it's time we found out some more about them!

This week, I'm interviewing our fabulous leader of the Backstory Team, Hythlos Honeywood! Hyth has been chief profile-stalker for around half a year now, but before that, he held a variety of staff roles, the most recent of which was Muggle Studies Professor! Let's get to know him a little better :3
If you were to attend Hogwarts in real life, which class do you think you’d do the best at? Which would you enjoy?
Ooh that is already a tough one. What I'm good at and what I want to take the most are very different answers - I like making my life difficult by gravitating to classes I'm usually rubbish at because I like a challenge :P However, I think the class I would excel at would be Potions. I have a bit of an obsession with precision/perfection, and I definitely do better in practical subjects (and usually classes that don't involve other people being in my space aha).
Potions! My beloved :3 I completely agree with you! For our next question, which character from the Harry Potter books do you relate to the most and why?
I'm not sure if I can select just one #sorrynotsorry
I've always felt a blended connection to two characters: Snape (for my younger self) and Luna (for the 'me' I am today). I saw sooo much of myself in Snape growing up. Those darker moments, filled with no friends and icky family settings, and just being a typical loner engrossed in that one class at school. Thankfully, I managed to avoid friends with missing noses and dark mark tats along the way. At the same time, I was always inspired and slightly envious of Luna - she was the one I longed to be. I had this weirdness inside, but was always scared to speak for fear of being mocked, and eventually I started just saying the thing. I gave up caring. I love both equally. I would never shame those younger years for trying to work herself out. And I'm now very proud of my weird, just like Luna :P so ya, it's hard to pick one without the other.
That's such an amazing choice though! I'm glad you were able to find confidence in your quirks, just like Luna did :D she's one of the most popular characters for a reason! Next up: what’s your proudest accomplishment that you’d like to share with us all? (Can either be related to WoP or not, it’s up to you!)
A bit of a serious answer for a second, but I'd have to say not backing down when I'm told I can't do something. Maybe it's the Taurus in me, or maybe I just hit a point where I don't care for people's opinions on my life. And it's such a hard mindset to reach. If you're aiming for something and multiple people express concern, it's so hard not to let that impact you - especially when you've done the research and know all the risks of certain decisions (like buying a house). It can shake your confidence to the point where you are talked out of it. Getting through the doubt and achieving those goals, though, that's a feeling that is so worth it.
That's very true :3 you've gotta have the independence and self-belief to make those difficult choices, but it can be so rewarding when you do! Next question: if you had to pick your perfect meal (a main course, a dessert and a drink), what would you choose and why?
It would have to be my ma's homemade mac and cheese - her fancy version. Lots of cheese, little baby tomatoes in it, bacon bits, and toasty bits on top :V I only request this for Christmas dinner now, that's how much I love it XD Dessert... oof it would need to be a simple but classic Victoria Sponge. All with a cup of tea - I won't start battle of the bags, but I'm a Yorkshire Tea gal.
Oh woah, that sounds so tasty though :V make sure you share some with me!! Final question: what would your ideal house be like? Eg., would it be in the city or the countryside? A sprawling mansion or a cosy cottage? Colourful and messy, or tidy and organised?
A cosy little house/flat in a quiet little town. I would say isolated away on some mountain, buuut we all know I'm too lazy to commute to get to the shop, and I'm terrible with even basic house plants, so growing my own food wouldn't work. I'd starve after a few days aha! I'll accept a few people so long as they leave me alone :P I always preferred smaller/cosier spaces, though. Enough for my crafty stations, my games and books, and maybe a little stove to keep my main room warm. And my cat. He has to be there or I'll burn the town down.
That's so fair xD your cat must be very grateful!
And there we have it! Thank you so much to Hyth and his cat for taking part this week! Some inspiring words of confidence from both of them there :3

See you in next week's edition!
