Hello there! Welcome to Desert Island Discoveries! If you've heard of 'Desert Island Discs' then you might have an idea of what this blog post is about. If not, then you're in for a treat! Each week, I'll be interviewing a user on the site, presenting a situation to them: you're trapped on a desert island with no broom or wand, and no sign of civilisation. Your only choice is to await rescue. What song, book, and item would you like to have to make the wait more bearable?
Our next castaway for this blog is the marvellous Hythlos Honeywood!
I remember this song playing on my car radio in the middle of a British Summer (aka: it started raining) and eating the best ice cream I have ever had from a muggle shop along the coast of Scotland, and the talks with my best friend along the way. We'll forget the part where the rain nearly made me miss the corner and crash, but it was a good trip with the song being a fond reminder of the day.
If I'm going to be stuck on a desert island then I'm going to want to read something that inspires me to keep on digging. One of the few books I've read - or had read to me - and also one of the few that I've literally finished and restarted straight away.
My first choice was absolutely my car, but without fuel then she's not going to get very far. Then it would be my bed, as I can't deny a bit of comfort, but also wouldn't be very useful. Alright, it's not like I'm literally going to be acting out the scenes of Holes by selecting my shovel (but if I have it then you know I will), but if I'm only allowed one item then it might as well be something useful.
Buried treasure? Dig with shovel.
Big monster? Slap with shovel.
Hungry? Cook Monster meat on shovel head.
Thanks to Hythlos for bravely volunteering to be our latest castaway! What do you think of his choices? Do you want to be the next castaway? Just leave a comment below or send me an owl!
