This year, there has been a lot of Harry Potter Inspired Trends. From Bath Bombs to a Harry Potter collection at Primark. This week, there has been a lot of talk about these Sorting Hat Candles.

Etsy store CraftWitchesDecor is selling these amazing Sorting Hat candles, which burn down to reveal the house you belong to.  It could be Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. In the books, fresh new wizard recruits are assigned to these houses with the help of the Sorting Hat which speaks to the wearer inside of the hat with a small, quiet voice, using Legilimency to interpret their thoughts and respond to them

Once these soy wax candles burn down, which takes between 44 to 50 hours, the house you belong to is revealed at the bottom.

If you didn't want to leave it down to chance, you can choose to have a specific house candle. They're also said to have an aroma of Hogwarts, which is apparently a concoction of apples, pears, mandarin, peaches, raspberries and tree bark, dried leaves, cinnamon stick, cloves and vanilla pods. The candles, which come in blue, green, yellow and red (naturally) and retail at £12.05.

The Gryffindor candle is Burgundy and signifies bravery, daring, nerve and chivalry.

Ravenclaw is blue and values intelligence, knowledge and wit.

Slytherin is green and is meant for Potterheads who value ambition, cunning and resourcefulness.

And finally, Hufflepuff will reveal yellow wax, which signifies hard work, dedication, patience and loyalty. Who’d have thought a candle could tell you so much about yourself?
